Newest Collages by Christina Jarmolinski-"Art is what you can get away with"

“Art is what you can get away with.” One of Andy Warhol’s quotes is the title of my black/white composition. I allowed myself to bring in a small amount of red and yellow colors. The shinny paper of Andy’s shirt is an old piece of wallpaper I recycled renovating our bathroom. Andy is centered with one of his loves - Audrey Hepburn. Both pieces are executed on plywood, size 36” x 48”, acrylics and papers. Price $ 3800.00 each. The Tatooed Woman with the green Hat in the Urban Jungle by Christina Jarmolinskilarge format. The jungle feel is given implementing the b/w zebra stripes, graphic lines using acrylics and papers. The background o “The Tattooed Woman with the Green Hat in the Urban Jungle “-My concept was to create a collage in n the right is the urban expression painted in warm orange/ and violet tones suggesting the movement of urban night life. The tattooed woman is contrasting in lime green emerging out of the jungle. Her hat is her statement to look urban. Everything combined, create a symposium of life situations and tendencies. I often paint the frame to the rhythm of the art work. Price $ 3800.00 each I enjoy using Andy Warhol’s Pop Art mannerism to create my own expressions. Pop art is a way of liking things. "- Andy Warhol I am an edgy artist and love to experiment, using objects as pennies, old torn wall papers, gold plate, newspapers and more. My art is not Mainstream. My forte is figurative paintings, which I have abstracted in collages and assemblages. Click on each image to see the full size.

Trip Home-reality hits!

After spending 4 days enjoying country sides with fields of corn, old farmhouses, Victorian ancient homes, Ocean City beach, the waves the happiness everybody shares with you in the crisp air of the Atlantic, Reality hit us! On the trip back the cruelty of mankind towards animals gave us a devastating feel. Where is our responsibility towards animals? Please only consume eggs from chicken allowed to walk and feed from the ground and please realize everytime you eat a chicken or other animals, they have sacrificed their lives for us, humans. I am not yet a vegetarian, but after seeing those poor birds going to slaughter and definitely knowing their destiny, it makes me want to refrain from meat. As for the dog- in Florida-the woman told me "He stinks, so he rides outside in the back!" Excuse me-take care of him and wash him more often. Take care of his wounds.........................

Dawn at Ocean City, Maryland

This was our last morning at the beach in Maryland before heading back to Florida. Great, fresh air and the sounds of the waves were saying their good-byes to us............ I loved it there.

Findings on our Trip-double click to enlargen photos

Gone with the wind. Truly the wind is batering this jewel of past days.............. On this day we traveled a little inland in Delmarva and found many interesting old Victorian Houses. This one got the prize! I think a horror movie should be made here. The birds fit in this scene- even the white children's organza dress is in harmony with the rest. Can you see the ghosts of the child wearing it? I would love the horse post-how many horses were attached here and waiting for their water and feed.

Art on the Board Walk in Ocean City, Maryland

We spent a splendid 2 days here and found very unusual art pieces, such as: picture 1- The Blues Brothers at an outside cafe picture 2-The weirdest Gallery I ever saw - the photo was taken in a storm so everything was closed. Next time -inside! Pictures 3- The Last Supper Installation in sand. The wind was furious that day and was reducing the art made in sand by the minute. Somewhat like the Mandalas the Buddhists doe- they are also blown away by the wind.................Very, very spiritual- Life also blows away at some point...................

Rob de Koter at Delaware City

Our trip to Delaware and Maryland was very interesting. Being from Connecticut I did notice many similarities. The countryside is very romantic, espesially in Maryland, with its old Victorian Houses lining the streets of the little towns. Berlin and Snow Hill are a must see. The beach at Ocean City is fantastic! Lots of energy given through the powerful waves passed on down the board walk. People of all ages enjoying the fresh air with it's great breeze. We slept with the doors wide open, listening to the sound of the waves and seagulls. Great fun and good quality of relaxation.

The Bridge Tunnel

We started our trip driving up North in the direction of Delaware and Maryland. This was the first exciting feature. This is the Bridge tunnel between Virginia Beach and Maryland. I had feared this in anticipation and it turned out to be really interesting. You enter the tunnel over a bridge then dive unter the water into the tunnel, back up and the same once more until you have reached Maryland. An amazing architectural achievement!

The Buddhist Monks of Myanmar -Burma

Aung San Suu Kyi Receives US Congressional Gold Medal This courageous, lady of dignity and conviction for the freedom of her people in Myanmar, received the US Gold Medal. She had been placed under arrest in her home in Burma for over 15 years. She fights for freedom and democracy in her former country of Myanmar, now Burma. I painted the above Buddhist Monks of Myanmar upon hearing and reading of the violence taken place. The monks were being attacked as they were peacefully demonstrating for freedom. I would love to auction this or sell it to aid their cause.

September 11- Mixed Media

After the horrible news of 9/11, I made this collage. The disaster and the devastation we all experienced was unbelievable! At that time I was watching CNN with my American girlfriend, Phyllis in Germany! We just could not fathom what was happening. Her daughter worked nearby in NY and she tried for hours to reach her. We were so far away and just hung onto every word and photo we could see on TV. It was an event in our lives and all Americans we will never forget!
