We were totally surprised as we opened our front door to find a huge looking insect or bird? flying against our glass storm door. It was as large as my hand!
We did not know what it was- a bird? large insect?! no head really weird but beautiful. It was like a white angel with white transparent wings outlined in lime-green and pink-Amazing! It was trying desperately to come in.
Our dog went crazy and would have liked to grab it! Good thing the glass door was protecting it./us.
We immediately looked it up in Wikipedia-thanks Wikipedia!
We found it was a male Luna Moth attempting to find a mate. They mate , thereafter dying. They live only 1 day!!
